Welcome to the ATB Community Patio

ATB Financial and Fringe Theatre go together like hot sauce and green onion cakes. Like a cold drink and a hot summer’s day. Like a chainsaw on fire and an Outdoor Performer on a ladder. Like…well, you get the idea.

This year, ATB and Fringe proudly celebrate 10 years of partnership and community building. What better way to mark a decade’s worth of art-making and investing in local delight than by putting the spotlight on the ATB Community Patio?

Located in the heart of the Festival Grounds, the ATB Community Patio invites Fringers new and experienced alike to come on in from the bustle of Festival and rest those weary fringing feet, share favourite Fringe stories, plan out your show schedule, chat with our friendly Volunteers about how to make your Fringe awesome, and even enter to win a sweet prize or two (or 100 if you happen to be our next ATB Golden Ticket winner)!

We chatted with ATB’s President and Chief Executive Officer, Curtis Stange, about what community means to ATB, why ATB and Fringe are the perfect pair, and why you should make the ATB Community Patio your go-to stop this Festival.

What does community mean to ATB?

For us, community means Alberta and while Alberta is our home, the impact of ATB Financial’s presence is far-reaching. As the largest bank headquartered in Western Canada—serving Alberta since 1938—we are positioned to meet our clients exactly where they are at and provide them with the right expertise to see and realize their own unique possibility. At ATB Financial, we believe in the art of the possible, with each day bringing the chance to guide our clients toward what matters most to them.

How does ATB help support a culture of belonging at Fringe and in Alberta?

ATB is dedicated to celebrating diversity, building safe and equitable spaces, and enabling a culture of inclusion. These same expectations apply to our community partnerships. We know Edmonton Fringe is an advocate for underrepresented voices and works tirelessly to create an environment where everyone can thrive and feel welcome. That’s why powering events like Fringe matters to ATB!

What are three things Fringers should know about the ATB Community Patio?

The ATB Community Patio is a space Fringers can really make their own. It’s a great spot to take a little break from seeing shows or find some shade on a hot day (or shelter on a rainy one!). If you’ve got questions about how to make the most of your Fringe, come on by and chat with a Fringe Volunteer. Plus, the Patio is home to the ATB Atrium, where we have some great giveaways that showcase many fantastic Old Strathcona businesses. We hope to see you there!

Fringe is dedicated to creating exceptional experiences for Fringers. How does ATB’s dedicated support enhance the Fringe experience?

We’ve been the Lead Festival Partner of the Edmonton International Fringe Theatre Festival for 10 years now, so we really understand how to best show up and enhance the experience of Fringers. Our role is to help make things possible, and we’re incredibly proud to play a role in making Edmonton Fringe one of Alberta’s most beloved Festivals.

Fringing is for everyone, and everyone is fringing. Make sure you stop by the ATB Community Patio between shows for fringe-tastic delights, powered by ATB Financial.
