KidsFringe inspires creativity and play for children ages 12 and under* and their families. All shows and activities at KidsFringe are FREE! Located at Light Horse Park on the north end of the Festival Grounds, KidsFringe is open 10:30AM – 5:30PM August 14 – 23, 2026.
*KidsFringe also welcomes individuals of all ages with a similar cognitive capacity with the accompaniment of a caregiver.

Kids on the Block
The Edmonton Epilepsy Association | Edmonton | 30 min | Storytelling
These highly acclaimed Kids on the Block puppets are a troupe of life-sized puppets with and without disabilities designed to teach children to understand and accept differences in one another. They bring forth a very empowering message, “We all belong.” This educational program seeks to create an awareness that helps all children to realize their full potential and deal positively with their misconceptions and concerns.

Using the traditional Japanese art of Bunraku puppetry, four-foot puppets come to life to help children learn about seizures and epilepsy — a brain condition that affects more than 175,000 children in Canada.
The puppeteers present two fun and engaging short performances that teach important facts about epilepsy in a way children can easily understand. After the show, children take part in an interactive conversation with Brian McDaniel, a puppet who lives with epilepsy.
Brian shares his experiences with seizures and helps children better understand what epilepsy is. His story helps reduce fear, stigma, teasing, and bullying that can sometimes happen when people do not understand seizures. The program encourages kindness, understanding, and inclusion, helping all children — especially those living with epilepsy or other medical conditions — feel safe, accepted, and supported at school.

The Doomed Prince

A highly interactive telling of an Egyptian cliffhanger Myth, with two twists: the audience acts it out, and also creates the ending! Three professional actor/narrators rehearse 6-25 volunteer actors into all the parts in the play in 20 minutes, and then perform the story with these brave volunteers, feeding them their lines while holding the mic up for them, and guiding them around the playing space to tell this tense and taxing tale.
