Bring Your Own Venue

Are you a Fringe Artist looking to Bring Your Own Venue (BYoV)? Here, let us help!

BYOV Applications Are Now Open!

Bring-Your-Own-Venue (BYoV) applications are now open! Register your show by March 30, 2026 to participate as a BYoV show in the 2026 Edmonton Fringe.

The BYoV Program is an Artist-driven initiative that allows Artists to produce a show at an approved venue that isn’t managed by Fringe Theatre. BYoV Artists retain sole responsibility for all costs related to the production and promotion of their venue and performances. BYoV is a great alternative for Artists whose show is better suited in an alternative space, for those who did not receive an Indoor Lottery spot, or who are low on the Waitlist.

Before applying as a BYoV Artist, you must:

  1. Ensure your venue has been approved by Fringe Theatre. New venue approval is not guaranteed – please do not make any contractual or financial commitments with a prospective venue before obtaining approval from Fringe Theatre.
  2. Finalize your venue rental agreement prior to submitting an Artist Application to the Festival.
  3. BYoV Artist applications for the 2026 Festival open on February 2 and close on March 30.

BYoV Agreements

All venues involved in the Festival must sign a BYoV agreement with Fringe outlining a max number of shows and performances the venue can hold, as well as the responsibilities of Fringe Theatre and of the venue.

New BYoV Venues for Festival

The BYoV program is an Artist-driven process. We add new venues when Artists approach us about a space they’re interested in that best supports the needs and/or vision of their show. A venue may not become a BYoV without an Artist spearheading it.

Venues participating in the BYoV Program must be approved by Fringe Theatre. If you’re looking to use an unconventional space, please contact us to discuss your proposal.

New venue approval is not guaranteed – please do not make any contractual or financial commitments with a prospective venue before obtaining approval from Fringe Theatre.
