With more than 800,000 visits, outdoor artists play a big role in animating the Festival site. We invest more than $125,000 in infrastructure to host 40 outdoor artists each year. Outdoor artists can perform by applying to one of two streams.

Artists with large acts can apply to the Outdoor Performer Lottery stream – applications open in October each year. Artists with small, walk-by acts can apply to our Busker Program – applications open in March each year.

Outdoor Artist Program Guidelines

By applying as an outdoor artist, you agree to present a show that is:

  • Artistically driven;
  • Within the 45 minutes time slot (including set up and strike);
  • Suitable for all ages;
  • Inclusive, kind, and inviting to all patrons in our community; and
  • Executed on time and on schedule.

Outdoor Performer Lottery
Successful recipients receive:

  • Scheduled performance time on the Festival site;
  • One (1) professional technician for performances taking place on an outdoor stage;
  • Outdoor Performer Manager supporting outdoor artist needs;
  • Public relations, advertising, and marketing support; and
  • Access to a volunteer billeting program for accommodations.

Busker Program Artists

Successful recipients receive:

  • Allocation on designated small pitch (2 meters in diameter);
  • Scheduling assigned by the Festival;
  • Outdoor Performer Manager supporting outdoor artist needs;
  • Public relations, advertising, and marketing support; and
  • Access to a volunteer billeting program for accommodations.

Both Outdoor Artists streams require payment of an entrance fee and an administration fee. Artists who are not successful will be reimbursed their entrance fee. If a fee payment is accidentally made twice, additional fees will apply to the refund of the second payment. All applicants must adhere to the Artists’ Code of Conduct and Artist Agreement found in the Festival Artist Policies.
