Fringing since 1998

You are never too young to Fringe with Fringe Theatre! Throughout the Edmonton International Fringe™ Theatre Festival, your family can explore the magic of live theatre and hands on arts experiences through our free KidsFringe activities.

At KidsFringe everyone can indulge in their sense of play through interactive opportunities, such as learning circus skills, helping build a play, and learning sweet dance moves.

Designed for families with toddlers to pre-teens, KidsFringe inspires creativity and self-expression. We’re excited to offer new activities at KidsFringe this year. For example, dance crew Rhythm Speaks will defy boundaries and stereotypes as they fuse traditional pow-wow dance moves with hip-hop. Their performance will have your kids grooving to beats that celebrate peace, love, unity, and FUN.

Kids will also have a chance to create their own play with Jest Kidding, a participatory theatre creation. Plus, we’ll have interactive performances, such as Promise Productions’ newest, The Poorest Travelling Chautauqua in the Canadian Prairies.

And, for families looking for new adventures, we’ll have the brand new Nordic Circus Shows, where families can watch mini circus performances and then learn some of the skills from the artist. World renowned performer Aytahn Ross will teach you juggling, balancing, plate spinning and much more!

Becca Lou, one of only a few strongwomen in the world, will perform her Science of Strength show, followed by a lesson that teaches you to use science to help you appear to have super human strength! And, the Undead Newlyweds will perform fire stunts that help teach important principles on fire-safety.

With circus shows, theatre and lessons offered everyday, you might just have a family of jugglers, actors, stilt walkers, break dancers, or magicians by the time you’re done fringing!

Your trip to KidsFringe is not complete without your Dental Choice KidsFringe Passport.  Receive your passport stamps as you explore various activities.  Collect all the stamps and your lil’Fringer will receive a free ice cream treat!

Whether you’re 9 months, 11 years, or a senior – the activities in KidsFringe will have you discovering the artist inside. The KidsFringe festivities kick off on Friday, August 18 at 9:45AM and go through Sunday, August 27.
